Examining the association respiratory co-infections and chronic cough with and undetected transmission of Mycobacterium tuberculosis

This PhD project will examine the potential contribution of transient respiratory (co-)infections and chronic cough through a range of subprojects, including analysis of electronic health records, examination of prevalent respiratory co-infections among TB cases and controls in high incidence settings and mathematical modelling. The project will be supervised by Dr Rein Houben (LSHTM) and Prof Koya Ariyoshi (Nagasaki University), and will involve collecting data in the field.

More information about the scheme can be found here: https://www.lshtm.ac.uk/study/research/nagasaki-lshtm-phd#overview. Interested candidates are encouraged to contact Rein.Houben@lshtm.ac.uk for an informal conversation.
