The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign seeks applicants for the position of Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on analysis of COVID-19 testing data from Shield, Shield Illinois, and Shield T3, where we have test results from >5M individual samples over the past ~18 months. This position is a mentored postdoctoral opportunity for a person who aspires to a career in epidemiology, public health, and data analytics. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will work as part of a diverse multidisciplinary team actively providing COVID-19 testing and supporting other control methods on campus, across the state of Illinois, and in a variety of communities across the country. This position is fully funded for 2 years and will include mentorship from across the University of Illinois, including the Carle-Illinois College of Medicine, the National Center for Supercomputing Applications, the Carle R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology, and members of the various Shield teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Cleaning and processing of COVID-19 testing data.
• Collection of meta-data from testing partners.
• Formulation of questions and analysis of data to address concerns of public health importance.
• Regular communication with testing communities, policy makers, and the public to share results.
• Writing, submitting, and publishing of scientific publications.
• Fully remote work is possible.
Minimum Qualifications: A PhD in a relevant field (such as epidemiology, statistics, public health, or data science) is required. Statistical modeling experience is required. The successful candidate will have outstanding written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to initiate and drive multiple projects to completion simultaneously. Demonstrated creativity and innovation in problem solving are also required. The successful candidate will have maturity and sound judgment, as well as the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Environmental Demands: Physical requirements are those normally associated with general office work.
