EAVE-II study analysing pandemic-related Scottish health data with UK collaborators
The Centre for Medical Informatics at the Usher Institute within The University of Edinburgh is looking for two Senior Research Fellows to join the EAVE-II (Early Assessment of Vaccine and anti-viral Effectiveness) team. The successful candidates will have extensive track record of carrying out independent, quality research in a data-focused field and significant expertise in writing complex code (particularly R) to interrogate complex datasets. These roles will play a key role in UK-wide efforts to analyse routine and near real-time health data, to answer urgent research questions about the COVID-19 pandemic, vaccine safety and effectiveness. Successful candidates will work independently to plan, design, coordinate and carry out multiple complex research activities with a range of cohorts and datasets. They will line manage less experienced analysts in the EAVE-II team, and also collaborate with colleagues across the UK on related projects like the National Core Studies, Long Covid Risk prediction, QCOVID (Covid Risk Stratification Tool), PHOSP-COVID (Post-hospitalisation COVID-19) and CO-CONNECT (COVID Curated and Open aNalysis aNd rEsearCh platform). The work is fast moving; the research questions are urgent and based on current real world events. The outputs will be published in high impact journals and guide Government policy on lockdowns, social and healthcare needs, and pandemic planning. Results will be written up, presented and disseminated quickly in line with national priorities.
