Do you want to work with the intersection of infectious disease epidemiology, mathematical modelling and statistics in Norway?

The Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH) is seeking a talented researcher with strong quantitative skills to join the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology and Modelling. The department is part of the Division of Infection Control and Environmental Health, and collaborates closely with NIPH’s research Centre for Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR-Centre). We are also a partner in BigInsight , a centre for research-based innovation within statistical and machine learning technologies, supported by the Research Council of Norway.

The position offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of infectious disease epidemiology, mathematical modelling and statistics (3 years contract). We have ongoing research relating to development of network models, individual-based models to analyse the spread of antimicrobial resistance, and age-structured meta-population models for use in preparedness planning in Norway. The particular focus of the post doc will be determined according to the interests and background of the candidate

We offer the opportunity to conduct cutting-edge quantitative research within infectious diseases using novel and rich data sources. NIPH’s laboratory diagnostics increasingly rely on genomic information and we want to further develop and expand our analytical competence to use available data sources to their full potential.

The position holder will be part of a dynamic department of around 20 researchers from diverse academic and professional backgrounds, including statistics, bioinformatics, modelling and epidemiology.

The Norwegian Institute of Public Health is a Public agency and national competence institution for governmental authorities, health services and the general population. The aim of our research is to evaluate and inform public health policies at the national and international level.
