Development and application of AI algorithms to support decision making for improved malaria control in the Asia-Pacific region.

We are currently seeking a Research Fellow in Artificial Intelligence for Decision Support to contribute to the development and application of artificial intelligence algorithms to support decision making for improved malaria control in the Asia-Pacific region.

This is a 2 year fixed-term opportunity to support collaborating investigators across two closely related research consortia: "Supporting Participatory Evidence generation to Control Transmissible diseases in our Region Using Modelling (SPECTRUM)" and "Supporting Preparedness in the Asia-Pacific Region through Knowledge (SPARK)".

This role will provide you with both valuable professional experience in a thriving infectious disease modelling group as well as the opportunity to make a real impact on the control of malaria, which currently poses a major global health threat. Two key functions of this role will be the development of novel algorithms to undertake automated analysis of malaria databases to support early detection of anomalies, and development of decision tools and algorithms based on adaptive control theory to support malaria programs.

Selection Criteria

-- PhD in Computer Science or other discipline with a strong computational focus;
-- Demonstrated ability to design, implement and test computer code implementing computational models, artificial intelligence algorithms or other quantitative analysis tools;
-- A track record of quality research as evidenced by research publications in leading conferences and journals commensurate with opportunity;
-- Demonstrated ability to perform independent research and a commitment to interdisciplinary research;
-- Demonstrated experience in using initiative, working with minimal supervision and ability to prioritise tasks to achieve project objectives within timelines;
-- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated by presentation of research results at conferences, internal forums and through manuscript submissions.
