Collaboration to reduce uncertainty about hypothetical and actual new variants for the COVID-19 Scenario Modeling Hub.

Dr. Katriona Shea (https://kshealab.wordpress.com/) in the Department of Biology (https://science.psu.edu/bio) and the Center for Infectious Disease Dynamics (www.cidd.psu.edu) at the Pennsylvania State University is recruiting a Postdoctoral Scholar. The position is funded by the NSF COVID-19 RAPID Program.
The Postdoctoral Scholar will coordinate efforts to reduce uncertainty about hypothetical and actual new variants for the COVID-19 Scenario Modeling Hub (https://covid19scenariomodelinghub.org/), and assist with the Hub’s day-to-day operations to conduct multi-model assessments of alternative projection scenarios for COVID-19. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in evolutionary biology and population modeling and an interest in applying theoretical methods to management of infectious disease and decision-making under uncertainty.
A Ph.D. in Quantitative Evolutionary Biology or Ecology, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or an equivalent area is required. Experience coordinating multi-group efforts, or in facilitation of research exercises, is highly desirable but not required. Candidates should demonstrate a track record of publication; have strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills; and be able to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
