China-based RF to identify evidence develop frameworks for evidence-based decisions around vaccines in China.

Applications are invited for a Research Fellow level mathematical modeller, health economist, epidemiologist, health services researcher, or statistician. The post holder will join the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology at LSHTM, but should be based in mainland China. The post holder will be responsible for working with key partners in China (including the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Fudan University) and the UK (including Public Health England) in order to generate evidence from burden of disease, vaccine impact, mathematical modelling and economic evaluation studies on vaccine-preventable diseases. The post holder will also help to advise Chinese partners on identifying key evidence gaps and developing frameworks for evidence-based decisions around vaccine introduction, surveillance and safety monitoring.

The successful applicant will have a postgraduate degree, and ideally a doctorate in statistics, mathematical modelling, health economics, epidemiology, health services research or another relevant discipline with a strong quantitative component. Applicants will need to have a good command of both English and Mandarin Chinese in order to be able to facilitate effective communication between the two teams. They should already have the right to live and work in mainland China, and be able to make occasional trips to the UK when it is safe and legal to do so. The post is full time and fixed-term for 12 months.
