Assess the value of blood donor data for public health surveillance! Projects use Bayesian modelling with survey and operational data

McGill Clinical and Health Informatics (MCHI) research group invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship in public health surveillance modeling. MCHI is in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics in the School of Population and Global Health at McGill University in Montréal, Canada.

Motivated by the critical role blood donors have played in understanding SARS-CoV-2 epidemiology, this fellowship will focus on evaluating opportunities, limitations, and best practices in using blood donor data for public health surveillance. As part of a unique new partnership between MCHI and Canadian Blood Services, the fellow will develop a series of projects that assess the potential value of using blood donor data for public health surveillance across multiple areas. The projects will develop skills in data analysis and modeling (Bayesian multi-level modeling, decision-analytic modeling, simulation, data science) and provide opportunities to inform public health policy. The fellow will be supervised by Alton Russell, PhD and co-supervised by David Buckeridge, MD PhD (McGill) and Sheila O’Brien, RN PhD (Canadian Blood Services).

Qualifications:
> PhD in Epidemiology, Applied Math, Health Services Research, or related by start date
> Research experience with quantitative data analysis/modeling
> Proficiency in data analytics and visualization using R or a similar program
> Candidates with experience analyzing large survey-based datasets, Bayesian modeling, multilevel modeling, or decision-analytic modeling should emphasize these skills
