ARC Future Fellow, Prof Malwina Luczak, seeks a probabilist to work with her on mathematical models of epidemics in large populations.
The Australian Research Council has funded a research programme into “Epidemics in large populations: long-term and near-critical behaviour” through its Future Fellowship scheme. The aim of the programme is to advance our understanding of the spread of epidemics.
The Research Fellow will be working with Prof Malwina Luczak (ARC Future Fellow) in the School of Mathematics and Statistics and will have the opportunity to collaborate closely with the stochastic processes group.
The role requires a mathematician with strong qualifications in probability to help achieve project objectives to study mathematical models of epidemics in large populations. The focus is on models with parameter values such that the disease basic reproductive ratio is near the critical threshold above which emergence of a large outbreak is possible. Please contact Professor Malwina Luczak for further details.
