Analyses of patient referral networks from different European countries that could explain the expansion of drug-resistant bacterial clones

We study the epidemic spread of antibiotic resistant bacteria at international and European level. The current project shall provide a better understanding of the routes and drivers of the epidemic expansion of extremely drug-resistant (XDR) bacteria through health care networks. The project analyses data on patient movements from several European countries in order to examine national patient referral networks. This work includes quantitative network science, mapping, mathematical modelling, and social network analysis.
