An exciting opportunity for an infectious diseases modeller to work on research that will accelerate progress towards malaria elimination

Research Assistant / Research Fellow – Infectious Diseases Modelling

2 years, full-time position

We are seeking a full-time infectious diseases modeller on a 2 year contract to join the Biostatistics Unit, Centre of Epidemiology and Biostatistics (Melbourne School of Population and Global Health, The University of Melbourne). This is an exciting role working with a dynamic multidisciplinary research team. The research program is externally funded and has the overarching aim of accelerating malaria elimination.
The successful applicant will be primarily working on mathematical models which describe the interplay between antimalarial drug concentration and effect to assess the safety and efficacy of current and new antimalarial treatments. This will involve working collaboratively with infectious disease clinicians, laboratory scientists, policy makers and others who are members of the Australian Centre of Research Excellence for Malaria Elimination.

Minimum Qualifications Required:
PhD in applied mathematics, statistics, computational biology or a closely related area of research
Skills and Experience required to fulfil the position:
A developing profile in research as a member of a team, as evidenced by the production of research publications and presentations at conferences.
Demonstrated ability to use statistical and computing programs such as R, MATLAB, Python or C.
