Dept of Epi at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg SPH invites apps for postdocs in infectious disease dynamics. Due 9/1/20

Multiple Postdoctoral Positions: Cholera Dynamics

Our group in the Department of Epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health is looking for one or more postdoctoral fellows to work across multiple projects aimed at better understanding cholera transmission dynamics using multiple data streams including traditional epidemiologic data, serologic data and whole genome sequence data.

The ideal applicant will have both quantitative experience in epidemiology, statistics, environmental science and/or ecology and an interest in public health research related to disease prevention and control. Applicants with, or nearing completion of, a doctoral degree in a relevant field will be considered. Experience working with molecular and/or immune response data is highly desired.

The successful applicant will work with Andrew Azman and Justin Lessler to develop a research portfolio, spanning one or more currently funded projects with a diversity of aims including primary data collection (e.g., in sub-Saharan Africa), geospatial modeling, inference on estimating disease dynamics, burden and the duration of cholera immunity from serologic data, and use of computational and statistical models to inform rational disease control policy. If desired, the candidate will have opportunities to work closely with collaborating global public health partners including the World Health Organization, Centers for Disease Control and MSF.

The successful applicant will be joining a highly collaborative group (iddynamics.jhsph.edu) who work on projects ranging from empirical data collection to theoretical modeling of disease dynamics, and there will be ample opportunities to work on cross-cutting projects focused on issues in infectious disease transmission and control.

The position will be for 1-2 years, depending on applicant interest and career plans.

Interested candidates should contact Maya Demby (mdemby1@jhu.edu) with a CV, statement of interest, and references. Application will be considered on a rolling basis.
