Short term PDRA position on respiratory virus transmission in schools

We are looking for a researcher, whose expertise lies in applied mathematics and/or statistics, to work with Dr Kirsty Bolton on a University of Nottingham funded project. The central aim of the project is to develop and apply models of respiratory disease transmission in school settings, in collaboration with the Face It study team led by Professor Kavita Vedhara (https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/news/impact-of-face-masks-in-schools). The project will involve reviewing mathematical models of respiratory virus spread in schools, implementing an appropriate model, and generating simulated data from the model with data-quality guided by Face-It engagement data to examine (i) the potential to infer transmission parameters within schools from observational studies, and (ii) the potential power of a RCT for face mask efficacy against respiratory virus transmission in schools under different epidemiological conditions.
