Provides administrative & logistic support in San Francisco for several research projects exploring genomic surveillance of malaria in Uganda.

Job Summary

Administers finance, human resources and other operational activities for small to mid-sized academic or research program. Administers major program components, and some or all of the program's operational requirements. Assists in developing research, participates in professional conferences, and provides public relations support.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

ABOUT EPPIcenter The EPPIcenter (eppicenter.ucsf.edu) aims to advance the understanding of infectious diseases to reduce global morbidity and mortality. We believe that the greatest success in the fight against infectious diseases will come through a highly interdisciplinary, systems epidemiology approach, connecting traditionally siloed theoretical work, technology development, generation and collection of empiric data, and analysis using statistical and mathematical modeling.

ABOUT DIVISION OF HIV, INFECTIOUS DISEASES AND GLOBAL MEDICINE The Division of HIV, Infectious Diseases and Global Medicine at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) is an internationally recognized global leader in clinical care, research, and education. With its home-base located at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center (ZSFG), the Division has been ranked as the top facility in the country for AIDS care for over a decade. The Division’s work is featured frequently in the media, and it is often visited by numerous international, national, state, and local dignitaries and delegations. The Division consists of approximately 36 faculty members and 170 academic and staff employees. It is the largest Division of the Department of Medicine at ZSFG.

Required Qualifications

Three to five (3-5) years relevant progressive experience
Bachelors degree (e.g. BS, BA) and / or equivalent experience / training
Advanced degree (e.g. MPH) and / or equivalent experience / training
Project and program management, coordination, and organizational experience, including managing teams and using project and time management tools and best practices
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Advanced ability to think creatively and independently on concepts requiring advanced analytical, relational, and diplomatic skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups to achieve results.
Strong ability to work collaboratively with internal and external peers and managers.
Demonstrated reliability, organizational skills, attention to detail, and record keeping abilities based on prior experience
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast paced work environment across time zones with minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications

Academic and/or programmatic background and experience in infectious disease epidemiology, surveillance and/or molecular surveillance of disease
Experience working on projects with international collaborators
Laboratory experience or background, specifically in next-generation sequencing and/or serology
Experience living or working in low- and middle-income countries and working with ministries of health
Database and/or statistical software proficiency
