Postdoc Research Assistant/Mathematical Modeller

Role
The aim of this research project is the application of new theoretical methodologies towards the assessment of countries’ vulnerabilities to diseases.
Duties and responsibilities
During the project the candidate will be responsible for applying/developing new mathematical approaches to evaluate the vulnerability of West African countries (Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Liberia) to Lassa Fever and Ebola.

The candidate is expected to lead the computational implementation of the theoretical models and produce adequate outputs (e.g. a report that will might lead to a future scientific paper).

It is likely that the candidate will interact with other groups interested in this project at Imperial College and WHO.
Skills and experience
The candidate is expected to have an understanding of infectious diseases and modelling/computational skills (ideally, knowledge of R language).

Familiarity with environmental, socio-economic and disease databases is an advantage.
