PhD within the Genomics and Data Analysis HPRU working with Profs Xavier Didelot and Matt Keeling, University of Warwick.

We are looking for a high calibre quantitative scientist to undertake a PhD in Warwick at the interface between epidemiology and genomics. This fully funded position is supported by the Genomics and Data Analysis HPRU, and as such the successful candidate would be expected to also work closely with UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA). There is some flexibility in the precise project, which will be co-created with the student and UKHSA colleagues in the first months. Recent projects have included the dynamics of COVID-19, genomic analysis of antimicrobial resistance and genomics for outbreak detection.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to email Matt (M.J.Keeling@warwick.ac.uk) or Xavier (Xavier.Didelot@warwick.ac.uk) with any questions.

Applications should be submitted through the University of Warwick portal (https://warwick.ac.uk/study/postgraduate/apply/research/) using “Mathematics Institute” as department, and “Postgraduate Research” as the type of course and quoting the Maths CDT course code G1P4. You should also explicitly mention working with Profs Xavier Didelot and Matt Keeling. Due to funding constraints this position is only open to home students.

Applications close at the end of August, ideally for a start in October 2023 (although later start dates will be considered).
