Biostatistician/ data scientist in the Infectious Diseases Epidemiology and Applied Statistics (IDEAS) group at Wake Forest University SOM

Come and join the growing Infectious Diseases Epidemiology and Applied Statistics (IDEAS) group at Wake Forest University School of Medicine as a biostatistician/data scientist. In this role you'll have the opportunity to work on many different projects within infectious diseases (e.g., dynamics of antimicrobial resistance, epidemiology and dynamics of sexually transmitted infections, biosurveillance, forecasting to name a few areas). You'll also have the opportunity for continued development based on your interests (i.e., continuing in biostatistics and data science and/or taking growing roles in manuscript development including lead authorship) and the ability to work with our collaborators at Wake Forest University and within the Center for the Study of Microbial Ecology and Emerging Diseases.

  1. Learn and use current statistical, ecological, epidemiological, and data science methods and tools to plan and conduct research using public health data systems, including survey data, health care facility data, syndromic surveillance data, electronic health records, vital records, and non-traditional, high volume data sources such as social media and unstructured web-based data.
  2. Provide data analysis support for biostatisticians and faculty members by writing statistical computer programs.
  3. Produce tables and graphics for statistical reports using a variety of computer languages.
  4. Prepare datasets for analysis by merging files, creating analysis variables, editing data, and developing documentation.
  5. Assist with interpretation of analysis results.
  6. Assist with the writing and dissemination of research analyses and results.
    Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
