Fully funded PhD in Epi @IU SPHB (with Litvinova M.). Analyze epi, socio-economic, and behavior data for understanding infectious disease dynamics.

The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics within the School of Public Health at Indiana University – Bloomington is inviting applications for PhD program in Epidemiology.
Working under the direct supervision and mentorship of Dr. Maria Litvinova, the PhD student will focus on research in the field of infectious disease epidemiology. In particular, the student will be trained in analyzing epidemiologic, socio-economic and behavioral data relevant for the transmission of infectious pathogens and data analysis for infectious disease modeling. Research in the lab frequently leads to high-impact publications and involves direct collaboration with national and international researchers and public health agencies to address global health challenges. The position provides a full tuition waiver, comprehensive health benefits, and an annual stipend through funded student academic appointments (SAA) that involves research and teaching responsibilities.

Qualifications: Candidates must have received a master’s degree in epidemiology, biostatistics or another quantitative field from an accredited educational institution by the start of appointment (August 2026). Preference will be given to candidates possessing proficiency in R and demonstrating a robust foundation in statistical inference or data analysis. Highly Desired: Prior experience with large-scale or complex data (e.g., survey/census data, electronic health records)
